Max Smith, M.S., LCPC, NCC, believes in the power of connection, compassion, and collaboration in the healing process. He works alongside clients to better understand their challenges, build on their strengths, and move toward lasting change.


Max has experience supporting individuals across the lifespan, seeing ages 5 and up. He helps clients manage a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral issues, grief, and mood disorders. His professional background includes work in residential treatment facilities, school-based settings, substance and alcohol treatment programs, and private practice work, allowing him to bring a well-rounded and informed perspective to his clinical work.


In therapy, Max creates a space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. His approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and adapted to meet the unique needs of each person. He integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered techniques to guide and empower his clients.



Max earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and serves as president of the practice. Max is passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health and building a practice culture that is welcoming, inclusive, and client-centered.
